A filmmaker with a passion for the water, Brett’s goal is to navigate the world’s ten great rivers. Brett has led three expeditions; the Mackenzie River (2004) in the Northwest Territories, the 100 day Yukon River (2006), and a one-month expedition from Whitehorse to Dawson City for a HD television special (2007). Brett’s adventures have provided him with great insight into the world of Native American cultures, giving Brett a first hand understanding of the issues facing these diverse peoples. Brett views his river journeys as a unique way to capture the human experience as it relates to our relationship to the waterways of the world. Interwoven among the environmental focus, Brett introduces the stories of the people who live on the shores of the river, providing a rare glimpse into the deep culture of indigenous people. The Mississippi, Amazon, Nile, and the Danube are some of the rivers Brett will one day navigate.

Brett has presented his adventures recently at the Earth Institute at Columbia University in New York City, the GreenXchange in Los Angeles, California and at the Pacific Economic Summit in Vancouver, British Columbia. Brett has also appeared on Breakfast Television, Discovery Channel’s Daily Planet, Canada AM, The Documentary Channel, The Weather Network and on CBC radio. Last year Brett served as the Canadian Field Coordinator for Robert. F. Kennedy Jr.’s Waterkeeper. He is a graduate of Geography from the Faculty of Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo and lives in Lowville, Ontario amid the splendor of the Niagara Escarpment and the approaching urban sprawl of Milton and Burlington.
